The WordPress.com stats helper monkeys prepared a 2012 annual report for this blog.
Here’s an excerpt:
19,000 people fit into the new Barclays Center to see Jay-Z perform. This blog was viewed about 69,000 times in 2012. If it were a concert at the Barclays Center, it would take about 4 sold-out performances for that many people to see it.
I tried to make a rage video, honest. I was going to yell and be all angry about anime characters I dislike with venom.
But instead, it’s a mostly bad video of an Asian teenager raising his voice, kind of proving that I can’t rage so well.
Well, I talk about anime characters I don’t like, the video itself should be entertaining. Enjoy.
Hello readers. It’s been a very long time since I’ve done this so I’m going to be all rusty but forgive me. This is an update post about what Otaku Panorama is going through now and in the future.
Are you sad that the Summer animes are ending or have already ended? Ever thought whether Fall animes could keep you as interested and entranced as what Summer animes did to you? In this post I will be sharing about some of the Fall animes of a certain type and theme to look out for.
Note: What I am sharing here isn’t all that there is to the season. There are plenty more animes than what I could cover here so be sure to keep an open mind and enjoy other shows! Please note that this post is not meant to be definite. It is not supposed to be a review of the show if an episode or two is out, as you have to finish the show in order to be fairer in your judgement. All I’m saying is that based on these few episodes, would it be sensible to keep on watching? Could there possibly be any more development in the story? Or has the show stale to a point that it is pointless to continue? Those are my main objectives.
Jormungand 2: Perfect Order
A ruthless arms dealer on a quixotic quest for world peace. A child soldier born into chaotic conflict. Their lives will intertwine as they journey together through the seedy underbelly of the world’s arms market.
A show that sets guns blazing. The first season was quite a blast, using many weapons you find in real life. There can be fighting scenes in urban warfare, within towns and cities. There were also fights in the middle of deserts and forests. Animation quality is pretty decent, especially where guns are involved. A show that could make your adrenaline rush with its fast beat battle music.
Medaka Box: Abnormal
Kurokami Medaka, a first year, is elected as Student Council President, and the first thing she does is establish a suggestion box, later dubbed by students the “Medaka Box”. Medaka encourages students to submit any problem to the box without hesitation and promises to take on any issue from anyone.
Since Medaka won the Student Council elections with a staggering 98% of the vote, she ends up as the Council’s only member. She asks her childhood friend, Hitoyoshi Zenkichi, for help and he grudgingly agrees, becoming the Student Council’s lowest ranking member. Soon Medaka recruits two more people to the Student Council, the former judo club member Akune Kouki as secretary and the current swim club member Kikaijima Mogana, on loan for 300 yen a day, as treasurer.
Now the Student Council members spend their days solving the problems submitted through the Medaka Box, whether they be hooligans in clubs where they don’t belong, girls who need help writing love letters or people who’ve lost their pets, gradually earning the respect and admiration of the entire school.
Another show that has a second season granted. If you are expecting this second season to be as boring and uneventful as the first, do not be hasty. From the PVs that were released, the show is finally starting on its main arc, which involves more fights and people with abnormal powers than ever, hence its name being Abnormal. Do watch this show to find out more.
Set in a world where history has taken a slightly different course from the one we’re familiar with, K follows the story of a young boy whose life is caught in a psychic war between seven kings.
Ashinaka High School is known for its unique setting: the entire campus is built on an island. Yashiro Isana, aka Shiro, is having lunch with a cat on one of the school rooftops. After his lunch break, Shiro goes on an errand for his classmate Kukuri to prepare for their upcoming school festival, only to be chased by some intimidating-looking men.
People with psychic powers, innocent young boy who is completely ignorant of such conflicts and gets chased by those same psychic guys. What more “original” way to start off a show? And later the protagonist gets (or regains) his psychic powers and gets involved in the same fight these people are having. I’m sure of that. Episode 1 showed smooth animation and promising story plot (for now). This show should be watched by many.
The story centers around Ryūta Sakamoto, a NEET (Not in Education, Employment, or Training) young man and a top-ranked player in the online combat game Btoom! One day, he wakes up on a tropical island without remembering how he got there. He sees a figure in the distance and asks for help. However, the figure responds by throwing something at Ryūta — a “BIM” bomb. In that moment, Ryūta comes to realize two things: one, his own life is in danger, and two, he is now in the world of Btoom!
When you see the words “online combat game” and “he is now in the world of Btoom!”, you might immediately think of comparing it with Accel World and Sword Art Online. Accel World has Neuro Linkers, SAO the NerveGear, but Btooom! does not seem to have mention anything similar. Well, we’ll see how it goes in the show.
Zetsuen no Tempest
The story revolves around Mahiro Fuwa, a teenager whose family was mysteriously murdered one year before and his friend Yoshino Takigawa. Mahiro is contacted by Hakase Kusaribe, the leader of the Kusaribe clan who was left stranded on an unknown desert island by her followers, and agrees to help Hakase in exchange of her help to find out the culprit for the death of his family. Upon learining of his friend’s intentions, Yoshino joins him on his quest to stand against the Kusaribe clan who intends to awake the “Tree of Zetsuen” whose power can bring ruin to the entire world.
Several dialogues and plot elements in Zetsuen no Tempest pay homage to the works of William Shakespeare.
Another action and psychological show, this time with mages and magic. You might be interested in potential this story may have, and I can say that you wouldn’t be disappointed if you’re looking for a show with good plot, good fights and character development. Episode 1 provided a nice start to the series so I’ll say go ahead and start watching it if you already haven’t done so.
Riding the bus one day, Sakurakouji Sakura looks out the window to see people being burned alive with a blue fire and a boy her age who’s unharmed and standing over the people.
She comes back to the site the next day and there are no corpses or evidence of any kind of murder, just a small fire. She then goes to class to find there’s a new transfer student, Oogami Rei, who looks exactly like the boy she saw before and wears a black glove only on his left hand.
Oogami is a Code Breaker, one who “does not exist”. He is a seemingly cold-blooded killer who follows the principle of “an eye for an eye”, to “use evil against evil”. Convinced that killing is not right, Sakurakouji sets out to stop him and penetrate his icy heart.
This sort of reminds me of Shakugan no Shana, in the part where “there are no corpses or evidence of any kind of murder” and “people being burned alive with a blue fire”. Also gives me a feeling similar to Ao no Exorcist, probably because of the blue flames.
The series takes place in the near future, when it is possible to instantaneously measure and quantify a person’s state of mind and personality. This information is recorded and processed, and the term “Psycho-Pass” refers to a standard used to measure an individual’s being. The story centers around the “enforcement officer” Shinya Kougami, who is tasked with managing crime in such a world.
It should be interesting to see how he decipher the thoughts of criminals to manage crime. If your personality and state of mind could be recorded, it makes crime-fighting much easier. Or does it?
Say hello to our 7th writer. That’s right, 7th! Even with 7 writers, we’re all too lazy to post often!
Either way, Halyren was recruited from the depths of Twitter and he’s nice chap (Yep, another guy, another one to add to this sausage fest. Dorry-Kun must feel rather scared). He was probably the easiest to recruit because I remembered he wanted to join for once and added him almost immediately instead of forgetting for almost a week like the other writers.
For now, enjoy his posts! I’m not too sure of his writing style but I’m trust he’ll do a good job. He’s a very avid otaku so this should even out the fact that LessThanFree and I aren’t so hardcore. Be kind to him, no killing. Enjoy!
So yeah, the title’s self-explanatory. And for LB! fans like me who actively follow the news regarding Little Busters!, you would probably know that most of the voice casts are retained, except 2. So now, it’s been finalized. Here are the remaining 2:
Naoe Riki – Horie Yui
Sasasegawa Sasami: Tokui Sora (Nero from Milky Holmes)
I’m going to wait for them to release a preview of the ED. According to the video, Little Busters! is set to air in October, which is in Fall 2012. Rejoice! ^.^

For those of you who do follow me on twitter to know about my ongoings, in the face of the great amount of pressure from my examinations, I have gave up rights to my computer and in doing so, disallowed myself from writing on the blog.
Seeing that I will not be able to post up posts which have sufficient quality (in my opinion) I have decided to officially announce my retirement from OP. It had been a fun 6 months over here and I know that the blog will definitely live and prosper. So for now, I bid you guys farewell.
We’ve been hinting for ages that we’ll be getting a fifth writer and finally, he’s here, adding on the prevail sausage fest of 4 males.
He’s older than us but still a teen, so one might expect silly antics. He’s iLegendC and hopefully he’s here to stay.
Lately, I had been thinking about it and after asking the grand boss of the blog, Cyborg, he agreed to let me do this. We are up and recruiting for new writers! Surprise! So if you would like to join our small, dysfunctional family at Otaku Paranoma, read on.
